For a full inside-and-out reset

The Reset Detail

Our most involved service. Visible staining, heavier buildup, extraction and steam where the material allows, extensive crevice work, and the hours it honestly takes to do all of it properly.

Condition Fit

Is this the right detail?

This is the booking for a car that has been lived in rather than looked after. It is not a rescue for damage — it is a reset back to a genuine baseline.

A neglected car interior with heavily soiled seats, multiple stains and debris in the footwells.

Heavily soiled interiors

Seats with several visible marks, footwells that have collected months of debris, and dust that has gone past dust into grime.

A dark sedan on a Pasadena street with heavy road film, dried water spotting and filthy wheels.

Long-neglected exteriors

Paint under enough film to change its colour, water spotting that has started to etch, and wheels that have not been properly cleaned in a year.

Car rear seat crevices and belt anchor points packed with accumulated debris and dark grime.

Packed crevices

Seat rails, belt anchors, seat-back pockets and every gap between panels, holding the accumulation of everyday life.

If the car is dirty rather than neglected, The Standard Detail will get you there for less. We would rather book you down a level than take the bigger number for work you do not need.

Scope

Exactly what is included

Everything in The Standard Detail, plus the extraction, steam and crevice work that a reset actually requires.

Exterior

  1. 01

    Pre-rinse and foam

A long dwell before contact, because on a car this far gone the pre-wash is doing most of the safety work.

  2. 02

    Contact wash

Two buckets, fresh media, worked panel by panel. On heavier soil the mitt gets rinsed more often and changed more often.

  3. 03

    Full decontamination

Chemical decontamination for iron and fallout, then a clay medium over lubricated paint. On neglected paint this stage alone can take an hour.

  4. 04

Wheels off the car where practical

Faces, barrels and arches cleaned properly rather than as far as a brush will reach. Where a wheel cannot safely come off, we say so.

  5. 05

    Trim, glass and jambs

Exterior trim cleaned and dressed, every jamb cleaned out, all glass done and rechecked in raking light.

  6. 06

    Dry and protect

Filtered air through every gap, then a durable sealant over paint that is finally clean enough to hold it.

Interior

  1. 01

    Strip and vacuum

Mats out, seats moved through their full travel, boot emptied. Everything vacuumed properly rather than around.

  2. 02

    Extraction

Carpets and upholstery agitated, cleaned and extracted with a machine. Repeated passes until the water coming out runs clear.

  3. 03

    Steam where the material allows

Vents, seams, hard surfaces and trim, treated with steam rather than more chemistry. Where a material cannot take it, it does not get it.

  4. 04

    Exhaustive crevice work

Every rail, anchor, gap and seam, by hand, with brushes and air. This is the single largest block of time in the service.

  5. 05

    Condition and protect

Leather and vinyl cleaned and conditioned once genuinely clean. Conditioner over dirt just seals the dirt in.

  6. 06

    Reassembly and final pass

Mats back once dry, seats and mirrors returned, and a full walk of the car with you in good light before we load out.

How we work

The part that is not a checklist

Chemistry is chosen for the material in front of us, not for what is cheapest to buy by the drum. Leather, coated fabric, piano-black plastic and anodised trim all want different things, and the wrong choice is what leaves a surface looking cloudy six months later.

Equipment is maintained like the cars. Filters get changed, pads get washed, and anything that has touched the ground is out of service until it has been cleaned properly.

Microfiber is sorted and zoned. Paint towels never touch wheels, interiors never share with exteriors, and nothing gets a second lap around the car after it has been dropped.

You hear from us before, during and after — a text before arrival, a walkaround before we start, and an inspection with you before we leave. We protect the surrounding property, contain our runoff, and keep the noise down because someone lives next door.

Limits

Exactly what is not included

A reset returns a car to a clean baseline. It does not undo damage, and no honest detailer will tell you otherwise.

A car dashboard badly sun-damaged, the vinyl faded, dried out and split with a long crack.

Permanent damage

Sun-split dashboards, cracked trim and heat-warped plastic are cleaned, not repaired. They will look better and they will still be cracked.

A cream leather car seat with a blue denim dye transfer stain worked into the grain.

Deep dye transfer

Denim into light leather migrates into the grain. We reduce it where we can and we will not promise to remove it.

A worn cloth car seat with the fabric thin, frayed and split open at the seam exposing foam.

Failing materials

Fabric that has worn through, split seams and perished foam need an upholsterer. Cleaning them harder only makes the failure worse.

Also outside this service

Severe biological contamination, mould remediation, paint correction, and any restoration or bodywork are not included and are not something we take on. If that is what the car needs, we will say so and point you somewhere honest.

The Standard Detail

Scope and condition

What changes the work

Two cars booked for the same service can take a different amount of time. Here is what actually moves it, so nothing on the invoice is a surprise.

  1. 01

    Contamination

How much is on the car, and how long it has been there. Fresh soil lifts away; the same soil left for months has bonded, and removing it safely takes longer.

  2. 02

    Material

Perforated leather, woven headliners and open-pore wood all limit what can be used and how aggressive it can be. Where a material sets a limit, that limit wins.

  3. 03

    Access

Third rows, child seats, roof boxes and a fully loaded boot all add time. We will not remove a child seat, and we will not clean under one that is installed.

  1. 04

    Size and shape

An XL van is not simply a bigger sedan — it is more glass, more jamb, more carpet and a taller roof. That is why the price moves with vehicle class rather than a flat rate.

  2. 05

    Time and process

The order of operations is fixed. When a step needs longer, it gets longer, and the finish time moves rather than the standard.

  3. 06

    What we do about it

We walk the car with you before starting. If the condition needs more than this service covers, you hear the number then — never afterwards, and never mid-job.

After
A car boot compartment covered in dirt, debris and dark staining across the carpet.

Where we work

Pasadena and the surrounding LA metro. We come to your home or your workplace, whichever is easier on the day.

Booking

The deposit

A 20% deposit reserves your mobile appointment window. We book a limited number of vehicles a day, so a held window is one nobody else can take.

It comes off the total, not on top of it. The balance is settled on the day, once you have walked the car with us.

Book Service

Start it over.

Seven to nine hours, and the car comes back to a baseline it may never have been at since you bought it. Send us photos of the worst of it and we will tell you honestly what will and will not come back.
